Police: Md. man killed in DC crash

WASHINGTON — A 50-year-old man from Wheaton, Maryland was killed in a crash in D.C. on Saturday.

Police said the crash happened in the 2500 block of Georgia Avenue Northwest.  One of the drivers, Vincent King, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said King was driving a speeding Mercedes-Benz and struck the back of a Ford F-150 pick-up, causing the truck to cross the road’s double line, jump a curb and overturn — striking a tree and a light pole before coming to a final rest, police said.

Meanwhile, King’s Mercedes jumped a curb and overturned, striking a chain link fence and a hydrant before coming to a stop.

The truck-driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

Police responded to the call at around 8:45 p.m.

Police have asked anyone with information about the case to call the police at 202-727-9099. Anonymous information can be sent to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
