Brewery holds fundraiser, brews special beer for Va. officer killed in Feb.

GAINESVILLE, Va. (AP) — A Virginia brewery has created a special beer in memory of a Prince William County officer killed in the line of duty and as a fundraiser for her family and two other officers shot during the same incident.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/28XbDmf ) reports that Tin Cannon Brewing held a fundraiser Sunday at its headquarters in Gainesville. The paper says proceeds from the sale of the commemorative amber ale it created, called “Heart of the Lion,” will be donated to the family of officer Ashley Guindon, who was killed Feb. 27, and officers Jesse Hempen and David McKeown, who were injured.

Charged in Guindon’s death is Ronald Hamilton of Woodbridge. Prosecutors say he shot and killed his wife and then shot Guindon, Hempen and McKeown, who responded to the scene.
