WASHINGTON — U.S. Park Police have released the identity of a woman who died in a bus crash on the George Washington Parkway last week.

On June 15, a shuttle bus driving northbound on the parkway near Stratford Lane crashed head-on into another vehicle at about 5 p.m. Youfen Zhoua, a 62-year-old from China, died in the crash.

Zhoua was one of 18 passengers on the bus, which was carrying foreign visitors from China. Two other bus passengers were in critical condition as of Monday, police said.

The two occupants in the other vehicle involved in the crash — along with 13 other bus passengers — were transported to a hospital for treatment.

After the crash, more than a dozen people rushed to the scene to help upright the bus and aid those who were injured. A witness estimated that 18 to 20 people got out of their cars to help, and that the group included at least three military service members in uniform.
