Va. amusement park has power failure, riders evacuated

WASHINGTON — Park activities came to an end early Saturday night at Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia, after a power failure occurred shortly before 8 p.m.

As a result of the partial power outage, all rides at the amusement park were stopped and people were evacuated. No injuries have been reported.

The power has since been restored after Rappahannock Electric Cooperative responded to the issue, but the amusement park remained closed for the rest of the evening, according to a statement on the Kings Dominion Facebook page.

The park will, however, continue to honor tickets dated June 11 through July 31 and it plans to reopen Sunday.
