Adelphi man indicted in mall, grocery store fatal shootings

WASHINGTON — A federal security officer has been indicted on first-degree murder charges for a pair of shootings in Montgomery County that killed two people last month.

Eulalio Tordil, 62, of Adelphi, is also charged with attempted first-degree murder and several gun charges. He faces a life sentence in prison if he were convicted of the most serious counts.

Tordil is accused of shooting and killing Malcom Winffel, 45, and injuring two others at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda on May 6. Soon after, he shot and killed Claudina Molina, 65, outside a Giant grocery story on Connecticut Avenue. Court documents said that he was trying to steal a car in order to flee the area.

Tordil also faces a separate murder charge and several gun charges for the fatal shooting of his wife, Gladys Tordil. She was killed outside her daughters’ school in Prince George’s County on May 5.
