WASHINGTON — The Prince William County police are investigating after someone opened fire in a neighborhood late Tuesday night, striking two homes in Manassas.

“A homeowner reported to us that they discovered a bullet hole in an interior wall of the residence,” said Officer Nathan Probus.

The incident happened along Westmoreland Avenue. Investigators say a second home in the area was also hit with gunfire, as was a parked vehicle and a shed.

“As we continued to investigate and look around the area, we did locate several shell casings which were located in the roadway,” Probus said.

Witnesses reported hearing shots and seeing a black sports car driving without headlights.

No one was injured.

The incident is similar to a string of shootings that occurred around Woodbridge earlier this year. Police said last month at least seven homes have been hit by gunfire in that region since January. In February, bullets hit five homes in the area of Banjo Court in Woodbridge.

Investigators said the Woodbridge shootings and the reported damage in Manassas happened on opposite ends of the county and are likely not related.
