Jordan Reed signs $50M extension with Redskins

WASHINGTON — The Washington Redskins have announced that they’ve locked up tight end Jordan Reed, one of the linchpins of their offense, with a five-year contract extension.

NFL.com says the deal is worth $50 million.

Reed led the team in receptions (87), receiving yards (952) and touchdowns (11) last season. His totals in the first two categories were single-season team records for tight ends, and he was the first tight end to lead the team in all three of those categories in nearly 40 years.

He did all this despite missing two games with a concussion.

“He can get a lot better, that’s the scary part,” head coach Jay Gruden told Redskins.com.

Reed was taken in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, 85th overall.
