Metro suffers another arcing insulator incident

WASHINGTON — An arcing insulator near the Federal Center SW station led to delays on Metro’s Orange, Blue and Silver lines for about a half-hour on Thursday morning.

The arcing happened shortly before 7 a.m. and led to a small fire, which was quickly extinguished. Trains were held in both directions for about a half-hour.

Metro said normal service had resumed a little after 7:30.

It’s at least the third arcing incident for Metro in the past few weeks.
