Local Starbucks stores add wine, craft beer to evening menu

WASHINGTON — It’s a popular place for a morning coffee, but now several Starbucks stores in the D.C. region are hoping to draw a crowd with new offerings in the late afternoon and evening hours.

The Starbucks Evenings menu includes craft beer, wine and appetizers. The offerings vary depending on the part of the country the store is located.

It’s now available at nearly 20 Starbucks locations in D.C. and Northern Virginia, including locations in Arlington, Chantilly, Dulles Airport, Fairfax, Great Falls, Haymarket, Purcellville, Springfield, Stafford, Vienna and Warrenton.

Starbucks says there is a demand for a casual evening meeting place.

Plus, a poll from Scarborough Research posted on Starbucks website says 70 percent of Starbucks customers drink wine, and they’re also two times more likely than the national average to drink craft beer.

Starbucks Evenings was first tested in 2010 in Seattle, and has since been slowly rolled out in other places.

Would you try the new menu options? Let us know in the poll below:
