Nordstrom Rack coming to downtown D.C.

WASHINGTON — Seattle-based Nordstrom Inc. will open a Nordstrom Rack store at 555 12th St., NW this fall.

It is the same building that was home to a Barnes & Noble store that closed last year.

The 37,000-square-foot, two-level store joins a mix of nearby downtown retailers, including Macy’s, H & M, Zara and T.J. Maxx.

Merchandise sold at Nordstrom Rack stores typically comes from Nordstrom stores and its suppliers.

The company describes Rack stores as “the ultimate treasure hunt to style-savvy customers.”

It will be Nordstrom’s 13th Nordstrom Rack location in the Washington and Baltimore areas. The first one opened at Potomac Mills in 1990.

Nordstrom also operates seven Nordstrom stores here. The closest to the new downtown D.C. location is at The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

Movie theaters are starting to reopen. Will anyone go?

For the first time in roughly five months, AMC Theatres will pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and start the show. But will anyone buy a ticket?
