Police identify 2 dead in Burke crash

WASHINGTON — Two men are dead after the Saturn they were in smashed head on into a tree in Burke, Virginia early Monday.

The Fairfax County Police Department identifies the driver who was killed as Cristian G. Dominguez of Burke. The front-seat passenger killed was Cristian A. Merino, also of Burke.

Neither was wearing a seat belt.

The crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. Monday on Burke Commons Road near Robert Commons Lane, according to Don Gotthardt, spokesman with Fairfax County police.

Another man who was in the back seat walked away from the crash without any serious injuries. Police have not identified the back seat passenger.

Police say weather, as well as speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
