WASHINGTON — George Washington University has stopped accepting donated bodies at its medical school because it can’t identify some of cadavers in the medical school’s custody.

“I extend my deepest and most sincere apologies to all the effected families, and to the entire community,” says Medical School Dean Jeffrey Akman.

He says they realized the problem last fall, and have been contacting family members of whose who willed their bodies to the school.

“These families are our priority, and we are working with them to resolve any concerns,” says Akman in a video statement posted on the George Washington website.

The medical school has enough cadavers on hand, so classes won’t be hurt by the moratorium on new bodies.

Akman says the school’s conducting an internal review.

And as for the person who was responsible for keeping the records: “The individual who had responsibility for managing the program is no longer employed by the University.”
