(PINAL COUNTY, Ariz.) — Two crew members have died after the medical helicopter they were travelling in went down Tuesday night about 20 miles east of Apache Junction in Pinal County, Arizona.

Air Methods, the owner of Native Air Ambulance confirmed to ABC News that there were two fatal injuries in the accident.

“We are deeply saddened by the news that two of our crew members were taken from us, and our hearts go out to their families and loved ones.” Air Methods Director of Corporation Communications Christina Brodsly said in an official statement.

The statement also confirmed that one other person onboard is now safe.

“An AS350 helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances about 20 miles east of Apache Junction” in Pinal County, Arizona, FAA Public Information Officer Ian Gregor told ABC News.

Arizona’s Department of Public Safety had issued a statement saying the crash sight “has been located in very rugged terrain.”

“The FAA and the NTSB have our full cooperation as they further investigate the incident,” Brodsly said in an official statement.
