ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Officials at the Annapolis Yacht Club say they are looking to relocate after the club founded in 1886 was badly damaged by fire.

Rod Jabin, the club’s commodore, said Sunday the club is more than just bricks and mortar. He says it’s a community, and it’ll rebuild.

Gov. Larry Hogan says the state will provide all assistance it can to help. Annapolis Mayor Mike Pantelides says a meeting has been scheduled to find temporary space to get the club up and running soon.

The three-alarm fire began around 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Capt. Janet Wiseman, of the Annapolis fire marshal’s office, says one firefighter was treated for minor injuries. She says no cause has been determined. Wiseman also says the building dating to the 1970s did not have sprinklers.
