Man charged with Alexandria murder

WASHINGTON — A man is charged with the murder after police say he shot a man in Fairfax County last month.

Police charged 21-year-old Andre Curtis Wilkins for the murder of 21-year-old Marquel Davis on Nov. 18. Police say Wilkins shot Davis in an apartment in the 7900 block of Audubon Avenue of Alexandria around 10 p.m. Nov. 18.

Two men at the apartment suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to an area hospital. Davis died at the hospital and the other person was released after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

On Dec. 4, two people called police about possibly seeing Wilkins, who was at large, in the Audubon Road area of Hybla Valley. Fairfax County police officers responded and arrested Wilkins at about 3:30 p.m.

Detectives charged Andre Curtis Wilkins with malicious wounding and he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. On Friday, his charged was changed to murder.

Wilkins was already incarcerated in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center at the time of the murder charge and remains there.
