Jingle All the Way 5K brings holiday cheer, street closures to D.C. on Sunday

WASHINGTON– The streets of D.C. will be filled with the sound of joyful, jingling bells as the 2015 Jingle All the Way 5K begins Sunday morning.

However, if you’re driving in and around the District, those bells might not make you feel as jolly. Here’s a list of affected streets and when they’ll be closing, according to the Metropolitan Police Department and the District Department of Transportation.

Approx. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 6, 2015

– Area around Freedom Plaza, Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 13th and 14th Streets, NW

– Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 14th and First Streets, NW

– 3rd Street, NW from Pennsylvania Ave, NW to D Street, SW

– Independence Avenue SE, from 7th to 3rd Streets, SW

DDOT warns that motorists may experience delays, and should consider alternate routes.

Large sinkhole on Md. 214 expected to cause delays

A large sinkhole in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, has shut down a portion of Md. Route 214 in Davidsonville. Commuters should plan for delays to last through rush hour, officials said.
