Police: Man shot answering door in Silver Spring

WASHINGTON — A man was shot after answering the door of his home in Silver Spring, Maryland on Thursday night, police say.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. at a home on Clement Road.

A Montgomery County Police Department spokesman says the victim found two men at his door, who apparently tried to force their way into the house. The victim told police one of the suspects shot him when he tried to shut the door.

Both attackers ran off, and the victim was able to call 911.

Police say he is in serious condition.
