Man fatally struck in Fairfax Co.; police seek driver

WASHINGTON — The Fairfax County police are looking for the driver who fatally struck a man crossing Franconia Road on Sunday night.

Zahoor Ali Khan, 69, of the Alexandria area, was crossing Franconia road near Brookland Avenue at about 10:45 p.m. when he evidently paused in the unprotected median to wait for traffic to pass, police say. He was struck by a vehicle headed west on Franconia Road and was found in the travel lanes at Brookland Avenue and Franconia Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver who hit Khan didn’t stop, police say, but they think that person was driving a white full-size van or truck.

If you have any information, the police ask you to call them at 866-411-8477, by texting TIP187 plus your message to 274637 or going to www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org.
