Police seek man who robbed 84-year-old in Fairfax Co.

WASHINGTON — An 84-year-old woman was the victim of a robbery in Fairfax County, and police are searching for the suspect.

Police say a man approached the 84-year-old woman in the parking lot of a Safeway store in the 9500 block of Braddock Road in Fairfax on Oct. 25 at about 6:55 p.m. Police say the man came up behind the woman while she was loading her vehicle and took the victim’s purse by force.

The suspect fled the scene after stealing the woman’s purse.

The interaction caused the woman to fall to the ground. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries and emergency crews transported her to a nearby hospital.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, who is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall.

The victim’s credit cards were used in unauthorized purchases later in the day at a Kmart store.
