WASHINGTON — Police have identified a man whose body was found inside a vehicle that was partially submerged in water along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway on Monday. Twenty-six-year-old Marcus Freeman of Laurel, Maryland, had been reported missing on Oct. 15.

Freeman is the son of City of Laurel help desk coordinator Mark Freeman. Laurel police say there was nothing suspicious about his disappearance.

Around 2 p.m., a contractor was cutting grass on northbound BW Parkway near the exit for Route 198 when he spotted the vehicle overturned in the water, says Sgt. Anna Rose with the National Park Service.

Officers from U.S. Park Police and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service responded to the scene. The officers broke the windows and found Freeman in the driver’s seat.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rose says police don’t believe the crash happened Monday. Police are investigating to determine what led to the crash and when it happened.
