Kansas City beats Toronto, advances to World Series

WASHINGTON– The Kansas City Royals are returning to the World Series.   They topped Toronto 4-3 to clinch the American League Championship Series 4-games-to-2.

Lorenzo Cain scored from first on a single by Eric Hosmer to snap a 3-3 tie in the 8th.    The Blue Jays had tied the game in the top of the  inning on a 2-run homer by Jose Bautista, his second homerun of the game.

The game ended with the Jays stranding runners on second and third.

Kansas City will now host the first two games of the World Series against the New York Mets starting Tuesday.

MASN Sports’ Melewski on the passing of legendary pitcher Steve Dalkowski

The pitching of Steve Dalkowski made it to the big screen, but he never made it to the major leagues. Dalkowski, who pitched for the Baltimore Orioles’ minor leagues teams from 1957-1965, died April 19 at the age of 80. The Nuke LaLoosh character in the movie classic "Bull Durham" was loosely based on Dalkowski’s career.
