Sex charges multiply against man in home daycare case

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Court records show that a man who lived in a Walkersville home that housed a daycare business is accused of molesting three children, although none was enrolled as a student at the time.

The details are in court records and Maryland Department of Education investigative reports obtained Thursday by The Associated Press.

An indictment last week added a third count of child sex abuse to the charges facing 28-year-old Joseph Garza. He was arrested in August and is being held with bail set at $500,000. No defense attorney is listed in court records.

Investigators say Garza was the boyfriend of the homeowner’s daughter and had lived there intermittently for several years. Two of the alleged victims also lived there. The third was a visitor.

The daycare business has closed.
