WASHINGTON – Montgomery County firefighters contained a large brush fire that broke out close to a Pepco substation near Germantown, Maryland on Saturday.

Pete Piringer, a spokesman with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said at least 12 vehicles were brought in to battle the fire, which was eventually contained to about 10 acres by around 6 p.m.

Winds complicated efforts to extinguish the blaze, on Germantown Road near South Germantown Recreational Park.

There were no reports of injuries or structural damage, Piringer said.
