COLONIAL BEACH, Va. (AP) _ A rehabilitated juvenile bald eagle will be returned to the wild in Westmoreland County.

The Wildlife Center of Virginia’s director of veterinary services, Dr. Dave McRuer, is scheduled to release the juvenile bald eagle on Monday at noon.

The center says in a news release that the eagle was unable to fly when it was found on the ground near Montross on June 27. The eagle had damaged tail and wing feathers, was thin and was infested with lice and flat flies.

The eagle has been outfitted with a transmitter so it can be tracked after it is released.
