WASHINGTON – A 7-year-old girl died after she was knocked down by a wave in Ocean City, Maryland, The Washington Post reports.

The girl was playing in waist-deep water Saturday night when she was knocked down by a wave and disappeared in the water, The Post reports. Rescue divers found the child, but she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The girl’s name has not yet been identified.  An autopsy report was still pending, The Post reports.
