WASHINGTON — D.C. police are investigating two sexual assaults that they say could be related. Both incidents took place near D.C. Metro stations.

The first case happened on July 28, when a woman was attacked on Riggs Road, Northeast, just off North Capitol Street. Police say the victim had come from the Fort Totten Metro station.

In the more recent incident, police say a woman was attacked on Aug. 28 after midnight on Michigan Avenue, Northeast, a few blocks away from the Brookland Metro station.

According to police, the suspect description is similar in both cases. He is described as a black man in his 20s to 30s, with a medium to dark complexion, standing between 6 feet and 6-feet-2-inches tall, with facial hair. Police say the man was armed with a knife in both cases, and fled the scene on a dark-colored bicycle. In one of the incidents, the suspect also robbed the victim.

Police released video of a person of interest taken near the Aug. 28 assault.
