Power outage reported in D.C.

WASHINGTON — A car accident is to blame for a power outage in Northeast and Southeast that’s left 499 Pepco customers without electricity Tuesday.

Pepco spokesman Bill Yingling says crews are evaluating the damage and anticipate the power will be restored around 11 a.m.

The outage affects East Capitol Street near the Benning Road Metro station.

Initially, 1,900 customers did not have electricity.
