WASHINGTON — The reflecting pool on D.C.’s National Mall will look a little different beginning in September as it undergoes monthslong construction.

About 30 feet of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will be drained starting Sept. 8 so rehabilitation crews can repair and remove a portion of the pool basin, the National Park Service announced Monday.

The repairs are correcting damage caused by the work at the nearby World War II Memorial in 2013.

The work is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.

During the construction, about 95 percent of the reflecting pool will still be filled with water and only the north/south walkway between the Reflecting Pool and the World War II Memorial will be closed.
