WASHINGTON — A man wanted in connection with the shooting of a 23-year-old American University graduate in D.C.’s Shaw neighborhood turned himself into police early Friday, the D.C. police tell WTOP.

An arrest warrant issued for Marcus King, 19, of Northwest, charges him with second-degree murder while armed in the death of Matthew Shlonsky.

King had told NBC Washington on Thursday that he’s not guilty, and was too scared to turn himself in.

Police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said King turned himself into homicide detectives early Friday.

Shlonsky, a 2014 graduate of American University, was killed while on his way to a party.

He was shot while in the 1800 block of Seventh Street, in Northwest, shortly before 5 p.m. Aug. 15.
