New Metro train to enter service on Green Line Monday

WASHINGTON — Another set of Metro’s new trains will roll out for commuters Monday morning.

Metro announced Friday that its fourth new 7000-series trainset will enter service Monday on the Green Line. The train will depart from the Greenbelt station at 5:30 a.m. and the Branch Avenue station at 6:25 a.m.

The train will stay in service throughout the morning rush hour.

The other 7000-series trains, which debuted in April, are running on the Red, Orange and Blue lines.

Metro has ordered 748 new railcars — 52 of which have been delivered.
