DeAngelo Hall returns from injury, wants his job back

RICHMOND, Virginia — The first walkthrough is in the books at Redskins Training Camp, and a good sign for the Redskins is that cornerback DeAngelo Hall has been cleared to participate. He’s recovering from a twice torn Achilles tendon last year. It’s been a tough road back for the veteran, but he’s here and ready.

“I’m chomping at the bit to get out there,” he said Thursday. “It’s going to be a fight in the secondary and you know me, I’ve never shied away from a fight. I’m ready to bring it.”

Hall will be part of a defense that will most likely have five — possibly six — new starters, along with a new defensive staff led by coordinator Joe Barry.

“You take on the identity of your coaches,” Hall said. “Joe B is a guy who’s very energetic and emotional. He loves his guys. We’re gonna fight for him. We’re gonna go out there and believe in the defense and try to execute it to the best of our ability. Change is good, in my opinion.”

Hall knows he has his work cut out for him coming back from an injury like his, along with all the additions to the defense, especially in the secondary. As far as proving himself again?

“Just keep competing, show that I can move,I can run, that I can make every cut,” he said. “I think the mental side is good to go, but physically just going out there and being able to do it. I have to show these coaches that I can do it, and the first test is today.”

When asked if he could win his job back, Hall plain and simply said, “Yeah.”
