Little River Turnpike reopens after repairs

WASHINGTON — A stretch of the Little River Turnpike in the Lincolnia Park area reopened early Wednesday after wires came down Tuesday morning.

The road was closed in both directions between Beauregard Street and Manitoba Drive north of Interstate 395. It fully reopened around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

As a dump truck turned off Little River, an attachment on the side of the truck snagged a telephone pole, snapping the pole in half about 9:40 a.m. The wires carried by the pole were draped across the width of the road in front of a McDonald’s restaurant.

WTOP’s Rick McClure contributed to this report from Fairfax County.
