Police: Driver sped off with officer caught in car door

WASHINGTON — Police in Prince George’s County, Maryland are searching for a driver who they say sped off with an officer caught in their car door. According to police, an officer approached a driver around 5:40 p.m. in the area of Alberta and Todd drives in District Heights. The officer somehow got caught in the car’s door. Police say the driver then sped off with the officer still stuck in the door, and crashed into a tree about 100 yards away. The officer was thrown to the ground, and police say the officer’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Officers are searching for the driver, who ran from the scene.
