WASHINGTON — Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday in an apartment building in Northeast D.C.

The shooting took place inside the Flats 130 apartments, located in the 100 block of M Street NE. NBC Washington reports residents said they received a letter from the building’s management, stating that a man visiting the building was shot.

Police say the victim was conscious and breathing when he was transported to the hospital.
