30 years ago: Live Aid in London, Philadelphia (Photos)

WASHINGTON — It was 30 years ago today — July 13, 1985 — that a panoply of acts took the stages at London’s Wembley Stadium and Philadelphia’s JFK Stadium for Live Aid. It was the extension of Boomtown Rats singer Bob Geldof’s Band Aid effort for African famine relief, which began the previous Christmas with the charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”

The hip-hop icon of Wu-Tang fame has teamed up with the ice cream brand Good Humor to re-imagine the signature "Turkey in the Straw" jingle played by ice cream trucks all over the country. Because, as it turns out, the tune has a problematic past.
