Video: Cable snaps on amusement park ride

WASHINGTON — A family had a brief scare after a cable snapped on an amusement park ride in Wisconsin, according to CBS affiliate WISC.

The incident occurred Thursday at Mt. Olympus amusement park in the Wisconsin Dells. The ride, “The Catapult,” malfunctioned when Dru Larson filmed his 13-year-old son on it.

In the video, a metal cable — that was supposed to shoot them about 200 feet in the air — suddenly broke. On Friday, according to the CBS affiliate, Mt. Olympus is forcing the ride operator to cease operations and remove the ride.
