12-year-old injured after plane crashes on California beach (Video)

WASHINGTON — A small plane towing a banner advertisement gave beachgoers a shock when it hit a California shoreline during an emergency landing.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane was towing a banner ad when the engine failed. The pilot, 23, was flying the plane alone. He didn’t incur any injuries.

A 12-year-old boy suffered a gash at the back of his head. He was either clipped by the plane or hit by flying debris, NBC reports.

Investigators are still looking into the reason for the crash.
