Flight from Reagan National has close call with drone

WASHINGTON —  The air space saw a  potentially dangerous encounter between a passenger jet and a drone Thursday night. Delta Shuttle Flight 2708 was traveling from Reagan National to New York’s LaGuardia airport when the close call happened near the end of the flight.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration  and Homeland Security say they’re investigating the drone incident. Officials say the crew reported that the unmanned aircraft was operating in the vicinity of Prospect Park in Brooklyn at an altitude of about 2,700 feet,  according to ABC 7 in New York.

It is at least the third time this month that a drone has been spotted near La Guardia. The incident came hours after five commercial planes leaving New York’s Kennedy airport were targeted by a laser.
