Gloria Estefan, others to perform at National Memorial Day Concert

WASHINGTON —   The red, white and blue stage is set for tonight’s National Memorial Day Concert on the west front of the U.S. Capitol building, which will feature Gloria Estefan, Gary Sinise and other performers.

The public is invited onto the Capitol Grounds for the hour-and-a-half show, which is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Sunday. Picnics are allowed but no alcohol is prohibited. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their own water. No glass bottles are permitted on the grounds.

U.S. Capitol Police say security measures will include searches of bags, backpacks and coolers. Pets, bicycles and oversized umbrellas are also prohibited from the concert grounds.

Metro’s Capitol South station on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines can get you near to the west, front U.S. Capitol grounds. Also Union Station on the Red line is nearby.

Movie theaters are starting to reopen. Will anyone go?

For the first time in roughly five months, AMC Theatres will pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and start the show. But will anyone buy a ticket?
