Child custody battle may have prompted double shooting in Waldorf

WASHINGTON — An ongoing child custody battle is said to be the motive for a double shooting at a McDonald’s in Waldorf, Maryland, Wednesday.

One of the victims, Robert Michael Mange, 25, of Smithfield, Virginia, has died.

The other, a 24-year-old woman remains in serious condition.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman by the name of Caroline Conway. No information has been released about her age or hometown.

The shooting happened at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of a McDonald’s, near the St. Charles Towne Center.
