WASHINGTON — Police say one person has died after a shooting Sunday afternoon at an apartment in Reston, Virginia.

Initially, Fairfax County Police said they believed that five men broke into a home near the intersection of South Lakes Drive and Soapstone Drive just before 3 p.m. At least two men were inside the apartment, and some sort of disagreement sparked. One person was shot, another was wounded and the others fled the scene.

Police later said the incident was not “random,” and that the people involved knew each other.

A 24-year-old man died as a result of the shooting, but he has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin.

Police continue to search for suspects and information related to the incident. Weapons were recovered on the scene that investigators believe were involved.
