WASHINGTON — The preliminary results are finally in for the race to fill “Mayor for Life” Marion Barry’s seat on the D.C. Council.
The unofficial results put the candidate backed by Mayor Muriel Bowser in the lead.
LaRuby May appears to have beaten Barry protege Trayon White by fewer than 100 votes.
The numbers as they stand current give May 1,955 votes and White 1,876 votes.
The totals will be finalized next week.
Marion Barry’s son Christopher was also in the race. He finished fifth out of 13 candidates on the ballot.
