Bones found in Herndon identified

WASHINGTON — Bones found in the Herndon, Virginia area in February have been identified as Joseph John Swain, 50, of no fixed address.

The Office of the Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as “undetermined” due to the nature of the bones.

Fairfax County detectives do not have an evidence there was criminal activity surrounding the death.

A resident found the bones around 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 next to a nature walk path in Difficult Run Stream Valley Path, off Treadwell Lane.

Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
