McDonald’s lightens its menu by 7 sandwiches

WASHINGTON — There’s a little less to choose from at your nearby McDonald’s.

The fast-food icon cut seven sandwiches from its menu, Bloomberg reports, in the face of a long decline in revenues.

The items that have left the palette of choices are the Deluxe Quarter Pounder, six chicken sandwiches and the honey-mustard and chipotle-barbecue snack wraps.

A company spokeswoman tells Bloomberg that it was a “rolling removal,” meaning that the items are disappearing from the offerings when each store runs out.

McDonald’s has seen its same-store sales drop for six straight quarters, Bloomberg says, adding that the chain still has about 40 more menu items than it did in 2007, a move that Bloomberg says is a response to people’s desire for healthier food.
