Wrong-way crash causes Beltway accident

WASHINGTON — Someone caused an accident on Tuesday morning after driving the wrong way on the Capital Beltway.

The Maryland State Police say the car was heading north against oncoming traffic on the Outer Loop at River Road a little after 6 a.m. The police add that the car started in Virginia, and apparently had been driving the wrong way on the Dulles Toll Road before getting on the Beltway.

The car crashed at River Road; the highway was cleared at about 6:40 a.m. There is no report of any injuries.
