Police hold community meeting following Arlington homicide

WASHINGTON — At a community meeting Wednesday evening, Arlington police updated nervous neighbors on the investigation at the home of 42-year-old Bonnie Delgado Black.

Black was found dead on Friday. On Monday, police said her death was being investigated as a homicide. Police said the mother of two died as a result of stabbing.

At the community meeting, police said evidence searches are under way, and that they were also searching the nearby home of Black’s estranged husband. Police say the couple was in the process of divorcing, and Black had a protective order against her ex-husband. He is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

Neighbors have been on edge.

“I understand the anxiety a neighborhood might feel when something so terrible has happened,” Arlington Police Investigator J. L. Wasem said at Wednesday’s meeting.

Police say people should exercise common-sense precautions, and that extra patrols have been added to the neighborhood.
