Man in wheelchair rescued from Metro tracks (Video)

WASHINGTON — A man in a motorized wheelchair was rescued after he fell onto the tracks at the U Street Metro station in Northwest Tuesday afternoon.

A man drove his wheelchair off the side of the platform at about 1:30 p.m. at Green and Yellow line station. It’s not clear what caused him to drive onto the tracks.

The man sustained minor injuries, says Metro Spokeswoman Morgan Dye.

Metro riders on the platform jumped onto the tracks to rescue the man. The good Samaritans pulled the man back onto the platform and rescued his wheelchair as well, Dye says.
