Montgomery County road reopens after pedestrian fatally hit

WASHINGTON – Part of Frederick Road in Montgomery County has reopened following a deadly accident Wednesday night involving a pedestrian.

According to Montgomery County Police, a woman was hit around 7:45 p.m. in the area of Frederick Road and Shawnee Lane in Clarksburg.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, but later died.

According to a Montgomery County Police Department news release, the woman was attempting to cross Frederick Road in an area without a marked crosswalk when she was hit.

Police said the vehicle involved remained on the scene.

Police said Frederick Road reopened in the area of Shawnee Lane around 1:20 a.m. Thursday.

No additional information has been released at this time.
