Suspect shot during attempted robbery in Fairfax County

WASHINGTON — A man is in the hospital after he was shot by a homeowner during an attempted robbery Tuesday morning in the Huntington area of Fairfax County.

According to a news release from the Fairfax County Police Department, the suspect, 27, was attempting to enter the home when an altercation occurred between him and the homeowner, age 48. The homeowner shot him in the upper body with a handgun and the suspect fled.

He then tried to flag down a school bus but was captured by police at the intersection of Lenore and Telegraph roads. He was taken to the hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries. Police also recovered a stun gun.

The homeowner wasn’t injured.

Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
