Human remains found in SE D.C.

UPDATE 9:15 p.m. 3/12/2015: The D.C. police say the preliminary investigation indicates that the remains are that of an African-American man, age 50 or older.

EARLIER: WASHINGTON — The D.C. police are investigating the discovery of human remains in Southeast.

The police say that the U.S. Park Police found human remains in the 500 block of Malcolm X Avenue, off southbound I-295 near Bolling Air Force Base, at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say they don’t know how long the remains had been there, or whether the remains are of a man, woman or child. The medical examiner is investigating.
